Ongoing skills development and training are an essential component of staff empowerment and motivation in order to deliver outstanding patient care.
Many facilities struggle to achieve the desired standard of patient care in an emergency setting due to the high levels of stress associated with the acute emergency situation. This leads to confusion, treatment delays, failure to use equipment effectively, indecision and lack of leadership during the acute resuscitation.
Ongoing staff training and education can play an invaluable role in addressing this issue. With this in mind, the Southern African Resuscitation Council, in conjunction with the American Heart Association, have made available a number of emergency courses.
